Let’s talk about Mr.Donald Trump and his bid for president. Donald Trump is a billionaire worth $10 billion dollars which is reported in his financial records filed with the Federal Elections Commission as of July 15, 2015. He graduated from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a hard worker that is good at building luxury hotels, golf parks, and building wealth through hard work. He owns the Trump World Towers across from the United Nations Headquarters, 50% stake in the Taj Mahal, prime Manhattan real estate, Miss USA and Miss Universe, Monday Night Raw wrestling, and he was the Executive Producer of “The Apprentice” on NBC for 12 years making over $200 million dollars.
Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president of the United States on June 16, 2015. I have grown up watching Donald Trump in the news and on TV. I never thought of him as a political leader. I thought he was joking when he made the announcement and would hopefully drop out the race after a few weeks. Donald Trump is a successful businessman to me but that’s it! Donald has been in the news since his announcement for president. He is causing headaches for both political parties. He is a Republican who has given money to both parties (Republican and Democrat) to help improve his business relationships over the past years which is why both parties seem scared to speak up against Mr. Trump. He has been married three times along with having five children and seven grandchildren. I don’t believe in judging someone because they have been married three times. We all make mistakes!
However, what really upsets me is that Mr. Trump has been making statements that come across very nasty and racist. During his announcement for president he stated that “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best, they’re sending people with a lot of problems, and they’re bringing their problems to the United States. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” This statement instantly made Mr. Trump look racist to me and to other people of color. I understand that the United States has a huge illegal immigration problem but making these type of comments just divide people even more.
Mr. Trump is a person that enjoys causing drama. I was hoping that he would be something different, challenge the status quo, and make people be on edge but never say cruel and racist remarks. I have Latino friends who work hard everyday. My friends also realize that there is a huge immigration problem in this country and they would like to see more law enforcement at the borders too! They want their children to have opportunities like any other American. Those comments from Mr. Trump isn’t needed especially when racial tensions are high across the nation. The African-American community was dealing with police brutality across the nation at the same time he made his racist statement. Two days later after his announcement, 9 African-Americans were murdered by 21-year-old white supremacist Dylan Roof while attending bible study in Charleston, South Carolina. I never heard Mr. Trump send any prayers of sympathy to the grieving families.
I am still waiting to see a candidate within any party to capture my attention. Donald Trump isn’t that great hope at all! He isn’t knowledgeable about foreign policies, never been a governor or senator, and never been in government. He would be great if I needed business advice or guidance in running a business. We need someone who is for all people…not for certain groups but for all Americans, period! Maybe Mr. Trump could be a Vice-President but never the “Leader of the Free World!” He is too inexperienced and scary. I don’t mean physically scary, I mean his words and comments that are very offending. I think he owes an apology to the Latino community but I don’t think that will happen. He is leading by 24% in the Republican party which means he is the #1 candidate for his party. People are listening because they do want immigration reform, low taxes, jobs in America and not overseas, and a combination of liberal and conservative viewpoints. However, there has to be a better choice than Donald Trump! If there isn’t a better choice than I won’t be voting in the next election! I am not impressed with Mrs.Clinton either! We need fresh talent with fresh ideas! Please let me know what your thoughts are on Mr. Trump and could you see him as the president? Also let me know why you like him or don’t like him!
Until next time folks!
